Why use Better Bins vs Cardboard?

You can buy cardboard boxes from various retailers, but the wide range of sizes and prices can be overwhelming. Once purchased, you will need to transport them home and put them together using packing tape. There’s also the concern of them getting damaged by moisture or being crushed. After you’ve unpacked everything, you still need to collapse the boxes and figure out how to dispose of them. Using our bins removes the hassle of sourcing cardboard boxes and guessing sizes. When you're finished, just return them—no need to worry about disposal.

 

What size are the bins we use?

Spacious and stackable, each of our moving bins is 25.2” long, 15.5” wide, and 11” tall – perfect for packing efficiently.

What are the rental fees for Better bins and dollies?

Bin rentals cost $3.00 per bin per week.

Dollies are $25.00 per week.

Packing paper is also available for sale. Package of 50 sheets is $12.00

Full payment is required at the time of booking through our website. We except VISA and Mastercard.

How much notice do you require to book?

Plan Ahead to Secure Your Bins


Our inventory is limited, so placing your order early is the best way to guarantee availability—especially during busy seasons. Booking in advance is strongly recommended, and the good news is you can always adjust your delivery date later if your plans change.

If your closing date gets delayed, no worries—we’re happy to reschedule as long as we have availability. Just give us at least 24 hours’ notice.

Need a last-minute booking? It’s best to call us directly first to confirm we can accommodate your request before placing your order online.

 

How will I know my order was received?

Once your order is submitted, you’ll get a confirmation email. Before your scheduled delivery and pickup, a member of the Better bins team will email you to confirm the details, including timing and address.

 

Am I required to be present when the bins are delivered or retrieved?

A person 18 years of age or older must be present to receive the delivery, sign for the order, and be available at the time of pickup.

Is there a delivery or pick up fee?

A fee will apply for pickup/delivery for Better Bins orders and will be automatically added to your cart during checkout.

 

$15.00 for orders within Lindsay.

$25 outside Lindsay within the City of Kawartha Lakes.

For deliveries to Peterborough, the fee is $40.00.

 

How are Better bins delivered and picked up?

Delivery Details


A team member will personally deliver your rental order to your home or office on your scheduled date. Someone 18 years or older—either you or a designated representative—must be present to receive the order. Signature is required.

All crates and supplies will be placed at your home, office, or garage. Upon delivery, your items will be counted to confirm everything matches your order. At this time, our team member can answer any questions.

Pickup Details


The pickup process mirrors delivery. On your scheduled pickup date, we will arrive at your new location within your chosen time slot. Again, someone 18 or older must be present.

Please have all crates and supplies clean, empty, and stacked together in one accessible area. Our team member will inspect the returned items for quantity and condition. Any missing, damaged, or unreturned items will be documented, and a signature will be required.

Bin damage or replacement fee $45

Dolly replacement fee $125

What’s the process for extending my rental?

Just let us know as soon as possible before your scheduled pickup or return date if you need to extend your rental, and for how long. Additional charges will apply for the extra days. Please note, that extensions are not always guaranteed, as the bins may be reserved for another customer.

 

Can you assure me that my items will be safe?

While we can’t promise absolute protection, using Better bins significantly reduce the risk of damage compared to standard cardboard boxes. Our crates are made of durable plastic, offering superior strength and stability during your move.

That said, the crate itself is only part of the protection. It’s important to properly cushion your belongings inside using materials like bubble wrap, packing paper, or other padding to ensure everything arrives safely.

 

Can I write directly on the Rental Bins?

No, please avoid writing directly on the bins. Since they’re reused and shared among multiple customers, we don’t allow any permanent markings or alterations.

Instead, we provide a set of labels with your order. You can use these labels to note the room destination and contents of each crate. Simply, use the label on the plastic sleeve provided on the bin. This makes it easy to identify what’s inside without damaging the crate.

Are longer rentals available?

Should you need to extend your rental beyond the two weeks listed on our website, feel free to email us — we’ll be in touch to arrange a suitable timeframe.

Cancellation policy

You’re welcome to cancel your order at no cost up to 24 hours before your scheduled delivery or pickup.

Cancelling after your bins have been delivered, a refund minus delivery or pickup charges and a restocking fee of $50 will be issued.

Is your service available for moves outside the local area?

We proudly serve the City of Kawartha Lakes region, as well as Peterborough and nearby areas. If you're located outside our standard service zone, feel free to reach out—we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

 

What are the replacement fees for lost or damaged bins?

Our team will inspect and count all equipment at the time of drop-off or pickup.

Bin damage/replacement fee $45

Dolly replacement fee $125

If at a later date, you locate the missing crates, we will pick up the missing crates and will credit the customer, minus our pickup fee and any additional rental time that you incurred.

Do I need to clean the bin before returning them?

Bin Care & Return Guidelines

We ask that you return the bins in the same condition you received them. While you're not required to clean them before returning, we appreciate your help in keeping them well-maintained.

·        No pets in bins: If we find excessive pet hair, a cleaning fee per bin will be charged to the card on file.

·        Keep bins indoors: Leaving bins outside can lead to dirt buildup. If bins are returned with excessive dirt, a per bin cleaning fee will also apply.

·         Please avoid using packing tape on our bins. If bins are returned with tape or adhesive residue, a cleaning fee per bin will be charged to your credit card.
There’s no need for tape—our lids are designed to interlock securely and stay closed on their own.

Don’t worry about deep cleaning—we take care of that! Every bin is thoroughly sanitized using our eco-friendly cleaning products before it goes out to the next customer.

 

Can I purchase Better Bins, or are they rental-only?
